Cartoon Khaki, Brantford’s Punk Étrange

From the basements of Brantford to the stages of a few venues in the Golden Horseshoe, Cartoon Khaki, while no one was looking, carved their name into Brantford's music scene between 1993 and 1997. Blending their unique punk ethos into a hybrid of multiple music genres with a touch of saxophone, they confounded local audiences at venues like Alexander’s, Rumbles, and The Pelican. Their legacy left behind a trail of live recordings and memories that still crop up to this day.

The band was originally called Dirge and was formed by Jeff Reniers (guitar/bass), Jan Rudy (bass/guitar), Rob Michalchuk (alto sax/vocals.) Later the band added the drumming of Mark Tadijanovich, then finally Yvan Petit-Pas took the sticks. The band gigged relentlessly in its short life, sharing their quirky sound with anyone willing to listen.

Though the band wrapped up their first run in 1997, Cartoon Khaki never truly went quiet. CK appeared sporadically over the years at reunion shows in 2003, 2005, and 2006.

Now, for the first time in nearly two decades, Cartoon Khaki is reuniting for one more night of catharsis. This time as a duet featuring Jeff and Rob. This set celebrates the 30th Anniversary of two albums from 1995, 'Coffee' and 'Don't Let A Stranger Touch Your Body.' These two past releases have been remastered as a double cassette album called, 'Don't Let A Stranger Touch Your Coffee.' You'll get your fresh cup filled with nearly two hours of newly remastered material from the existent 4-track recordings, also featuring bonus material and live shows from the time period.

Whether you were there in the ’90s or you’re just discovering CK now, this is your chance to experience songs that define the early era of the band and help give a glimpse of a moment in 1990's Brantford underground history.

Music Starts at 7pm.
